Peru: Mobile Market Poised for Strong Growth as Heightened Competition and Network Improvements Spur Demand

Like most major markets in Latin America, Peru witnessed a strong depreciation of its local currency against the US dollar in 2015. In large part owing to this effect, the Peruvian telecom services market contracted by 6.6% in 2015, from $4.8bn in 2014 to $4.5bn in 2015. With the fifth-largest population in Latin America, Peru is home to the seventh-largest telecom market in the region. Pyramid Research expects total services revenue to grow at a CAGR of 3.1% between 2015 and 2020, in US dollar terms, reaching $5.3bn in 2020.
